More auditions were submitted to participate in the 15th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition than any other year in the history of the competition. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry tape/CD or DVD. Each of you are now registered to participate in vocal or instrumental workshops on Friday, November 20 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center . You may also attend all events associated with the Extravaganza as a paid registrant.
Judges gathered recently to review all entries and select finalists. Finalists are invited to compete in the largest and most competitive mariachi vocal competition in the U.S. and the only one of its kind judged by members of "el mejor mariachi del mundo" Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. The competition will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Municipal Auditorium starting at 9:00 a.m.
