2009 Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Finalists |

More auditions were submitted to participate in the 15th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition than any other year in the history of the competition. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry tape/CD or DVD. Each of you are now registered to participate in vocal or instrumental workshops on Friday, November 20 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. You may also attend all events associated with the Extravaganza as a paid registrant.
Judges gathered recently to review all entries and select finalists. Finalists are invited to compete in the largest and most competitive mariachi vocal competition in the U.S. and the only one of its kind judged by members of "el mejor mariachi del mundo" Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. The competition will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Municipal Auditorium starting at 9:00 a.m.

El Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán regresa a Houston |

El Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, considerado como "el mejor mariachi del mundo" por los críticos de música mexicana, volverá a actuar en Houston, después de dos años, el próximo sábado 19 de julio como parte de una gira por 22 ciudades de Estados Unidos.
El Vargas, como se le conoce popularmente en México, cumplirá en septiembre próximo 110 años tras haber sido fundado por el vihuelista Gaspar Vargas en el pueblo de Tecalitlán, en el sur del estado mexicano de Jalisco, en donde se originó la música de mariachi. Read More....

Singer Manuel Vargas and his Mariachi Sangre Mexicana team up with Ballet Folkorico Mestizo for two Father's Day Concerts. The shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. June 13 and 14 at the Instituto Cultural de Mexico Auditorium, 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way.
